Shiv Sena Leader Accuses Kunal Kamra of Receiving Funds from "Anti-National Agencies" to "Malign India's Image"

Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Nirupam has alleged that comedian Kunal Kamra has been receiving financial support from agencies involved in anti-national activities. According to Nirupam, Kamra has received international funds over the past five days, with money reportedly flowing in from Canada, the United States, Australia, and Middle Eastern countries.
Nirupam further claimed that a specific community is backing Kamra with financial aid to tarnish the country’s reputation. Allegedly, Kamra has received approximately ₹5 crore in funding for activities deemed to be against national interests.
The Shiv Sena leader also stated that Kamra will soon face legal action for accepting these funds. He pointed out that a producer named Shetty has also been involved, with money allegedly being transferred into her account from the Ford Foundation. Nirupam asserted that the Ford Foundation operates as an American agency with the objective of maligning the image of various nations.
According to the allegations, Kamra utilized funds from the Ford Foundation to produce a video, the intent of which will be investigated. Nirupam assured that all relevant details regarding the financial transactions would be handed over to government agencies for further inquiry.
Authorities are expected to launch an investigation into the matter, assessing the source of funds and the alleged motive behind the financial backing Kamra received.
However, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut In a recent statement said that he advised Kamra to present his case before the law and not evade it.
Questioning the Maharashtra government's actions against Kamra, Raut asked, “Is Kunal a terrorist? Is he a member of Al-Qaeda or Hurriyat? He is a citizen of this country, an artist, a writer, and a poet. Is talking to him a crime?” Raut further stated that as a Member of Parliament, he interacts with everyone.
Defending Kamra, Raut added, “I have known Kunal Kamra for many years. He is not the kind of artist who will be intimidated by threats. He will not bow down. He would rather die than surrender or be afraid. Those issuing threats will soon find it difficult to continue their actions.” Additionally, Raut described Kamra as a "fighter" and remarked, “Our DNA is similar. He will not apologize. If any action is to be taken against him, it must be through legal means.”
