Saif Ali Khan Attack: Mumbai Police Records Actor’s Statement; Accused to Be Presented in Court Today

Mumbai: Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan has given a detailed account of the January 16 attack at his Bandra residence, where he was stabbed multiple times during an alleged robbery attempt. The actor, who recently underwent two surgeries, spoke to Mumbai Police late on Thursday night, shedding light on the terrifying ordeal that left his family shaken.
According to police sources, Mr. Khan revealed that the incident began with the screams of his younger son Jehangir’s nanny, Eliyama Philips. On rushing to his son’s room, he encountered the intruder, who stabbed him multiple times in the back, neck, and hand when he tried to intervene.
The attack, which occurred in the early hours of January 16, left the "Devara" actor with severe injuries. He was treated at Lilavati Hospital and discharged on Tuesday after undergoing two surgeries. The Bandra police have since arrested the intruder, identified as Shareeful Islam Shehzad Mohammad Rohilla Amin Fakir alias Vijay Das, a Bangladeshi national who illegally entered India. The accused reportedly confessed that his sole intention was to rob the house and flee to Bangladesh the following day, claiming he did not intend to harm anyone.
The police have recovered a critical piece of evidence—a section of the knife, including its handle—near Bandra Talao, over a kilometre from the actor’s residence in the Satguru Sharan building.
Key Developments Today
The accused will be presented before the Bandra court around 12 noon, where the police are expected to seek an extension of custody to further their investigation. All eyes are on the findings of the past five days of interrogation.
So far, the police have recorded the statements of Saif Ali Khan and his wife, Kareena Kapoor Khan, in connection with the incident. Investigations are ongoing.
