“Rattled by poll losses..”: PM Modi takes a dig at the Opposition protests over the Parliament security breach
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday launched a scathing attack at the Opposition parties over their protests in the parliament and said that they are “rattled” by the recent poll losses in the assembly elections of the three states. In addition, expressing anguish over the politicization of the Parliament security breach he stated that all members of the Parliament must condemn the security breach in a democratic manner, upholding democratic values. A total of 92 Opposition MPs were suspended over the course of the last week of parliamentary proceedings, owing to their uproar in the Houses, and their call for a statement from Union Home Minister Amit Shah over the security breach that rattled the Lok Sabha on December 13.
"Some parties in a way voicing support to security breach in Parliament. It is as dangerous as the breach itself," said Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the BJP Part meet at New Delhi on Tuesday. The PM further asked the MPs to exercise restraint and abide by the Parliamentary code of conduct.
The Prime Minister’s statement comes ahead of the fourth INDIA Alliance meet, slated to take place on Tuesday to discuss and formulate a collective strategy ahead of the all-important 2024 general elections. PM Modi said that the goal of the INDIA Bloc was to throw the current government, but the BJP government’s goal is to ensure a bright future for this country.
The Opposition INDIA alliance is all set to convene their fourth meeting in the midst of the suspension of 92 of their MPs. Following the mass suspension of the MPs, the proceedings of the both the houses resumed on Tuesday and hit a snag soon after the Opposition MPs, holding placards and chanting slogans of “We want justice”, and “Tanasahi nahi chalegi” made their way to the well of the House, to make their demands heard. They continue to rally around the demand for a statement from the Union Home Minister Amit Shah in the floor of the house, and the reinstatement of their MPs. Both, the proceedings of the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha have been adjourned till 12:30pm.
