Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, on Monday expressed deep sorrow over the deadly car explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort Metro Station, calling it “heartbreaking and deeply concerning.”
“The news of the car explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort Metro Station is extremely heartbreaking and concerning. The report of the deaths of several innocent people in this tragic incident is profoundly sorrowful,” Gandhi wrote on X.
“In this hour of grief, I stand with the bereaved families who have lost their loved ones and express my deepest condolences to them. I hope for the swift recovery of all the injured,” he added.
The explosion, which occurred around 7 p.m. near Gate No. 1 of the Red Fort Metro Station, left at least 8 people dead and many others injured after a Hyundai i20 car went up in flames at the Subhash Marg traffic signal. He also visited those injured in the hospital.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah ordered a multi-agency probe involving the National Investigation Agency (NIA), National Security Guard (NSG), and Delhi Police, vowing a “thorough investigation exploring all possibilities.”
Security remains tight across the national capital as forensic teams and investigators continue to comb the blast site for evidence.
