Rahul Gandhi Alleges Voter Fraud in Maharashtra, Questions Election Commission Over 39 Lakh New Voters
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Friday raised serious concerns over alleged irregularities in Maharashtra's voter list, questioning the Election Commission (EC) over a sharp rise in the number of voters between the 2024 Lok Sabha and upcoming Vidhan Sabha elections.
Addressing a press conference in Delhi, Gandhi stated, "We have studied the Maharashtra elections in detail and found many irregularities. In five years, from 2019 to 2024, 34 lakh new voters were added. However, in just a few months between the Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha elections, 39 lakh voters have been added. Who are these 39 lakh people?"
He further alleged that the total number of voters in Maharashtra now exceeds its population of 9.5 crore, as per Election Commission records. He demanded the EC release the full voter list, including names and addresses, for both Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha elections in Maharashtra.
Gandhi also claimed that many voters had been deleted, particularly from minority communities, and accused the EC of not responding to these concerns due to alleged irregularities.
Sanjay Raut Accuses EC of Bias
Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut echoed Gandhi’s concerns, strongly criticizing the Election Commission. "If the EC is alive in this country, it should answer all the questions raised by Rahul Gandhi. The EC is acting like a servant of the government," Raut alleged.
He also claimed that the 39 lakh newly added voters could be part of a pattern of voter manipulation, suggesting that such votes were first transferred to Maharashtra, then to Delhi, and could now move to Bihar.
The Congress, NCP(SP) and Shiv Sena (UBT) leaders have demanded transparency from the Election Commission and called for an immediate explanation regarding the alleged discrepancies in Maharashtra’s voter rolls. The EC is yet to respond to these allegations.
