"Party Treading on a Directionless Path": Congress Spokesperson Gourav Vallabh Resigns, Criticises Party's Approach and Lack of Connection with "New India"

Congress spokesperson Gourav Vallabh on Thursday announced his resignation from the Grand Old Party, expressing discomfort with its current trajectory. "These days the party is moving in the wrong direction," alleged Vallabh in his resignation letter addressed to party president Mallikarjun Kharge.

"The directionless path the Congress party is currently taking makes me uncomfortable. I cannot support anti-Sanatan slogans nor can I criticise the country's wealth creators day in and day out. Therefore, I am resigning from all positions and the primary membership of the Congress party," wrote Gourav Vallabh taking to social media platform "X".

Vallabh, who previously contested in the Rajasthan assembly election from the Udaipur constituency in 2023, highlighted his unease with the party's approach to issues such as the caste-based census and its stance towards Hindu society. "These days the party is moving in the wrong direction. On one hand, we talk about the caste-based census and on the other hand, the party seems to oppose the entire Hindu society. This style of working gives a misleading message to the public that the party is a supporter of a particular religion only. This is against the basic principles of Congress," said the former Congress spokesperson.

In his two-page resignation letter, he also criticized the party's failure to connect with the aspirations of "New India" and its inability to effectively present its manifesto and policies. He lamented the party's loss of ground-level connection, which he believes has led to repeated failures in both attaining power and serving as an effective opposition. "This demotivates workers like me. No positive change is possible if a worker cannot reach his leader directly,” he said.

Gourav Vallabh further mentioned his disappointment with the party leadership's decision to skip the Ram Temple ceremony, which he described as shocking and upsetting. He underscored the importance of direct communication between workers and leaders for positive change within the party. Vallabh's resignation comes a day after boxer turned-politician Vijender Singh jumped ship and joined the BJP on Wednesday.
