NEET-PG Exam Postponed Amid the NEET UG and UGC-NET Row, New Date Awaited

The Union Health Ministry on Saturday announced the postponement of the NEET-PG examination, originally slated for June 23. A new date for the examination will be announced soon, notified the ministry. The announcement comes in the midst of ongoing controversies surrounding the NEET-UG results and the cancellation of the UGC-NET examination.

"In light of recent allegations regarding the integrity of certain competitive examinations, the Ministry of Health has opted to conduct a thorough evaluation of the robustness of the processes of the NEET-PG Entrance Examination," said the Ministry in its notification. As a precautionary step, the ministry has decided to delay the NEET-PG entrance exam. "It has accordingly been decided, to postpone the NEET-PG Entrance Examination, scheduled to be held tomorrow i.e. 23rd June, 2024," the ministry added.

Expressing regret for any inconvenience caused to students, the ministry emphasized that this decision was made in their best interests and to uphold the integrity of the examination process. "Ministry of Health sincerely regrets the inconvenience caused to the students. This decision has been taken in the best interests of the students and to maintain the sanctity of examination process," said the Union Health Ministry.

The NEET UG examinations, overseen by the National Testing Agency (NTA), have become embroiled in numerous controversies, including allegations of paper leaks, issues with the marking scheme, and irregularities in conducting the exams. Similarly, the UGC-NET examinations, also managed by the NTA, were cancelled due to concerns over the examination's integrity. 

Amidst the ongoing controversies surrounding the NTA, the government removed Subodh Kumar Singh from his position as Director-General of the NTA and placing him on compulsory wait. In the interim, retired IAS officer Pradeep Singh Kharola will assume additional responsibilities.
