BRS Leader and former Telangana Minster Kalvakuntla Taraka Rama Rao on Saturday concurred with West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s “40 seats” jibe at the Congress. “The only forces who are able to hold off the BJP are those that are led by strong leaders such as KCR Ji, Mamata Ji, Kejriwal Ji and Thiru Stalin,” said KTR.

“I completely concur with Didi. Congress should introspect on how its attitude has resulted in implosion of the proposed INDIA alliance. Fact of the matter is the only forces who are able to hold off the BJP are those that are led by strong leaders such as KCR Ji, Mamata Ji, Kejriwal Ji and Thiru Stalin,” posted the BRS leader on social media platform “X”, stating that Congress is no longer “a viable alternative” to BJP.

It is interesting to note that in the recently conducted Telangana Assembly elections, Congress with Revanth Reddy at the helm defeated KCR’s Bharat Rashtra Samithi. The Congress along with its alliance partner CPI secured the majority with 65 seats against the incumbent BRS’s 39 seats.

On Friday, Trinamool Congress Supremo Mamata Banerjee hit out at Congress saying that she doubts if the grand old party would be able to secure even 40 seats in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. “I doubt if Congress will even win 40 seats. I did not ask for anything from them, out of goodwill, I was offering two seats and would ensure that they won. But they wanted more. I said okay, contest in all 42 then. Rejected! We have not spoken on seat sharing since then,” said Banerjee.
