The Election Commission served a notice to Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader N Chandrababu Naidu for alleged derogatory remarks directed at Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy. Naidu received the notice on Thursday, accused of violating the Model Code of Conduct during his campaign speeches on March 31, wherein he reportedly referred to CM Jagan using terms such as "Monster," "Animal," and "Thief."

According to the notice issued by the Chief Electoral Officer of Andhra Pradesh, Naidu has been given a 48-hour window to explain the comments that he passed against the YSR Congress Party and its leader, Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy. The notice stems from a complaint filed by Lella Appi Reddy, State General Secretary of the YSRCP, and another individual.

During campaign rallies held in Yemmiganur, Markapuram, and Bapatla constituencies, Naidu allegedly used derogatory language against Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy. The Election Commission reviewed the speeches and found them to prima facie violate provisions of the Model Code of Conduct.

The Assembly and Lok Sabha elections in Andhra Pradesh are scheduled for May 13, with vote counting set for June 4.
