Delhi Court summons CM Arvind Kejriwal on February 17 after the Enforcement Directorate’s complaint

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has been summoned by the Delhi Rouse Avenue Court on February 17 to explain his non-compliance with the Enforcement Directorate’s summons in connection with the Delhi Excise Case Policy.

The Enforcement Directorate moved the court after Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal skipped his 5th summon in connection with the alleged liquor scam. The court on Wednesday, acting on the Enforcement Directorate’s complaint directed the Delhi Chief Minister to appear before it and explain why he skipped the central agency’s summons in connection to the alleged liquor scam case probe.

Kejriwal was initially summoned on November 2, but he rejected the summons, citing it as "vague, motivated, and unsustainable in law." Instead, he traveled to Singrauli in Madhya Pradesh to address a political rally. He was then called for questioning on December 21, which he skipped and attended a 10-day Vipassana meditation course at a center in Punjab's Hoshiarpur district. He received three summons this year, on January 3, January 18, and February 2.

BJP Spokesperson Shehzad Poonawala lauded the Delhi court’s summon and hit out at the Aam Aadmi Party. "Kejriwal has become Bhagoda no. 1. He said the summons were illegal but now he is exposed as the court has now summoned him," added Poonawala.​
