PM Modi Highlights India’s Growing Potential Following Massive Turnout at Coldplay Concerts
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday underscored India’s growing potential for live concerts, citing the success of British band Coldplay’s performances in Mumbai and Ahmedabad. Speaking at the Make in Odisha Conclave 2025 in Bhubaneswar, PM Modi urged both the state and private sectors to invest in infrastructure and skill development to fully capitalize on the country’s potential in the concert industry.
“In the past few days, you must have seen the amazing pictures of Coldplay concerts in Mumbai and Ahmedabad. This is proof of how much scope India has for live concerts,” said Prime Minister Modi. He highlighted the importance of the concert economy, noting that big global artists are increasingly drawn to India, which in turn boosts tourism and generates substantial employment opportunities.
PM Modi further urged states and the private sector to focus on building the necessary infrastructure to support this growing industry. "Concert economy boosts tourism and creates large-scale employment. I urge states and the private sector to focus on the necessary infrastructure for the concert economy,” he added.
The Prime Minister also touched on the new opportunities emerging in related sectors like event management, artist development, and security. These areas are expanding as the demand for live events continues to rise.
Coldplay, the British band, during their recent Music of the Spheres World Tour, performed five shows across Mumbai and Ahmedabad, with their final concert in Ahmedabad setting a new record for the largest ticketed concert in India, attracting a staggering 1,34,000 attendees—surpassing the previous record by over 60,000. Celebrating this achievement on X (formerly Twitter), the band highlighted India’s vast potential for live concerts, emphasizing the growing demand for such events in the country.
