PM Modi accuses the Congress of being anti-tribal and anti-dalit, highlights BJP's development initiatives in Madhya Pradesh
Addressing a public gathering in the Siddhi district of Madhya Pradesh, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday took a jibe at the Congress for their alleged disproval of India’s first tribal woman President. State assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh are scheduled on November 17, and amidst the soaring political tension between the BJP and Congress, the PM also alleged that the INC had also opposed the candidature of Droupadi Murmu.
"Congress never forgets to abuse me daily...It even opposed the election of the country's first tribal woman President as it is only interested in the vote bank of tribals and not their welfare. The party also did not attend the swearing-in of the country's first tribal chief information commissioner (CIC) despite getting an invitation in advance," said Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the poll-bound state.
The PM also alleged that in spite of being intimated on time, Congress skipped the appointment of the first Dalit Chief Information Commissioner, Hiralal Samaria. "I canceled my election tour and went to Delhi for the meeting. A Dalit from Rajasthan was being made the Chief Information Commissioner for the first time…They were invited to the meeting. The invite was sent before time. They even had a telephonic conversation. But when they came to know that a Dalit was going to be appointed, they boycotted the meeting. They hate Dalits so much,” said PM Modi in his speech.
Lauding the achievements of the incumbent BJP government in Madhya Pradesh, PM Modi said the government is doing everything in its power for the general welfare of the people. He also shed light on welfare measures such as the PM Vishwakarma scheme for the traditional artisans. The development of a major solar power plant in the Vindhya region of MP also found a place in his speech.
