"Pehle maatdaan...": PM Modi Urges Delhi Voters to Participate in Assembly Elections, Greets First-Time Voters

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday urged the voters of Delhi to participate actively in the ongoing assembly elections.
Taking to social media platform "X", the Prime Minister underscored the importance of casting votes and extended special greetings to first-time young voters.
"Do keep this in mind, he said, 'Pahle matdaan, phir jalpaan' (First vote, have meal later)," Modi wrote, highlighting the significance of voting before indulging in other activities. He encouraged citizens to embrace the elections as a "festival of democracy" and participate with enthusiasm.
Voting is underway for all 70 seats in the Delhi Assembly. 8.1% voter turnout has been recorded in Delhi till 9am.
The BJP, under Modi's leadership, has been conducting a vigorous campaign to challenge the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which has been in power in Delhi since 2015. Despite AAP's dominance in the last two elections, the party has faced significant setbacks, including widespread corruption allegations related to their liquor policy.
This time, the BJP is hopeful of a victory, bolstered by large rallies led by Prime Minister Modi and the early mobilisation of its extensive election machinery. After being sidelined in Delhi's political scene for a decade, the Congress party is also looking to make a strong comeback in these elections.
