A 25-year-old woman was shot dead in Noida, allegedly by a man who had been pressuring her to marry him, police said. The accused, identified as Krishna, 26, is currently on the run, and multiple police teams have been deployed to track him down.
The incident occurred on Friday evening, at the woman’s paying guest accommodation in Noida’s Phase 2 area, where the suspect allegedly entered her room and opened fire.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central Noida) Shakti Mohan Avasthy said an initial probe pointed to a personal dispute. “Initial inquiry revealed that Krishna went to the woman’s room and shot her due to a dispute between the two,” he said.
Police officers rushed to the spot after receiving an alert and took the woman, identified as Sonu, to a nearby hospital. She was declared dead on arrival, the DCP said.
Sonu, originally from Amroha, had previously worked with Krishna at a factory, during which time the two were in a relationship. She had recently been working as a domestic help.
According to reports, the suspect, a native of Bihar, had been repeatedly urging her to marry him. Her refusal is believed to have triggered the fatal attack, officers added.
