“Nation comes first…”: FWICE Urges Indian Film Industry to Boycott Turkey Over Pro-Pakistan Stance

The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE), the apex body representing 36 crafts of workers, technicians, and artists in the Indian film and entertainment industry, has issued a strong appeal to all Indian film producers to avoid choosing Turkey as a shooting destination, citing the country’s increasing support towards Pakistan on matters concerning India’s national interest.
In a statement, FWICE emphasized its long-standing commitment to the principle that “Nation Comes First.” The organization expressed concern over Turkey’s consistent diplomatic posture favoring Pakistan, especially on issues that challenge India’s sovereignty and security.
“Turkey’s positions at various international forums have been clearly aligned against India’s sovereign interests. As an industry that is deeply rooted in Indian soil and culture, we cannot remain indifferent to actions that potentially undermine our nation’s dignity,” FWICE stated.
The federation called upon production houses, actors, directors, line producers, and crew members to stand in solidarity with the country by boycotting Turkey as a filming location until it reconsiders its diplomatic stance and aligns with principles of mutual respect and non-interference.
“FWICE has always been a pillar of strength for the Indian film industry and its workforce. At such a crucial time, our unity is essential in sending a strong and collective message — that India’s sovereignty and dignity are non-negotiable,” the statement read.
The federation concluded by expressing hope that the Indian film fraternity would heed the appeal in the spirit of national interest.
