Narrow escape for the passengers of the Patalkot Express, 2 bogies completely gutted; No casualties reported
2 coaches of the Patalkot Express train caught fire on Wednesday afternoon near Bhandai station in Uttar Pradesh. The train was en route from Punjab’s Firozpur to Seoni in Madhya Pradesh. Smoke was seen billowing out of the 3rd and 4th coaches of the express train at around 3:45 pm, following which, four coaches of the train were detached to prevent the fire from spreading any further. Police reports claim that 2 people have been injured.
“Incident of a fire on the Patalkot Express has been reported between Bhandai and Jajau within the NCR (North Central Railway), Agra Division. Two coaches have suffered complete damage. Given that two adjacent coaches were also impacted, a total of four coaches have been disconnected from the train. The situation is now under control,” said Prashasti Srivastava PRO Agra Zone.
5 fire fighting units were rushed to the accident spot and two people were reportedly injured.
“On receiving information about fire in 2 bogies of Patalkot Express, Malpura police station, and 5 fire tenders immediately reached the spot and brought the fire under control. 2 injured persons were sent for treatment. There are no casualties. The passengers were evacuated safely and were rushed to the hospital for treatment. The Forensics team is probing into this incident, to ascertain the cause of the fire. Action will be taken based on the forensics report,” said DCP West Agra.
The Doorgami Express stopped on the adjacent track and helped to evacuate the passengers from the accident spot.
