Mumbai Police Detain Woman for Issuing Death Threats to UP CM Yogi Adityanath
The Mumbai Police detained a 24-year-old woman on Sunday for allegedly giving Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath death threats. The woman, identified as Fatima Khan from Ulhasnagar in Thane, Maharashtra, reportedly has a Bachelor's degree in Information Technology.
The incident began on Saturday evening when the Mumbai Police Traffic Control Cell received a threatening message from an unidentified number. The message warned that Adityanath would face death in a manner similar to former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique unless he resigned within ten days.
Following the receipt of the threat, the Mumbai Police alerted the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS). The ATS was able to trace the threatening message back to Fatima's location in Ulhasnagar. A joint team from the ATS and local police visited her home to conduct an inquiry and subsequently brought her in for questioning.
Although she has not been formally arrested, authorities issued her a notice following the initial inquiry. The police are arranging for a mental health evaluation to better understand her psychological condition. In response to the threat, security measures for Chief Minister Adityanath have been significantly increased.
