Mumbai Crime Branch Exposes Deadly Plot: Accused in Baba Siddiqui Murder Also Planned Killing Retired police officers Son

A sensational revelation has emerged in the charge sheet filed by the Mumbai Crime Branch in the murder case of NCP leader Baba Siddiqui. The charge sheet, submitted in the MCOCA court on Monday, reveals that two members of the Pune gang arrested for Siddiqui's murder had also planned to kill the son of a retired police officer.
The arrested accused, Rupesh Mohol and Gaurav Apune, along with the absconding accused Shubham Lonkar, had fully prepared to murder the former police officer’s son. However, the Crime Branch apprehended them in connection with Baba Siddiqui's murder before they could execute their plan.
According to Crime Branch sources, Mohol and Apune wanted to kill the retired officer’s son because they suspected his involvement in the conspiracy to murder their close associate, Jaideep Dnyaneshwar Bhondkar (22), in September 2024 in Pune’s Uttam Nagar area. Bhondkar was killed by another accused, Amit Sudam Gurjar (21), who is currently in custody. The accused believed that the officer’s son not only helped Gurjar but also played a significant role in planning the murder.
Following this revelation, the Mumbai Crime Branch has shared this information with the Uttam Nagar Police in Pune to ensure the safety of the retired officer’s son. This detail is included in the charge sheet filed by the Crime Branch.
According to Crime Branch sources, Jaideep Bhondkar was murdered on September 7-8, 2024, when Gurjar attacked him with a sickle. The two knew each other, and the murder occurred after an argument during a friendly exchange. Gurjar lured Bhondkar out of his home under the pretext of offering help and then killed him.
After the incident, Bhondkar’s friends, Mohol and Apune, suspected that the retired officer’s son not only assisted Gurjar but also played a crucial role in the conspiracy. According to Crime Branch sources, in statements recorded under Section 164 of the CrPC, both accused admitted to planning the murder of the officer’s son. They stated that they had acquired weapons with Shubham’s help and intended to use them in the planned murder. During the investigation, the Crime Branch recovered two firearms and several rounds of ammunition from the accused, which were meant to be used in the murder.
Both accused also revealed that, before carrying out the murder, they, along with their gang members, practiced firing the weapons near Khadakwasla Dam.
