The Mumbai Crime Branch has made a significant breakthrough in the case involving death threats issued to Bollywood actor Salman Khan, the Crime Intelligence Unit (CIU) arrested 24-year-old Sohel Pasha, a resident of Manvi in the Raichur district of Karnataka, who allegedly sent a ransom demand of ₹5 crore.

According to officials, Pasha, a YouTuber who recently released a song titled "Main Sikandar Hoon" on his channel, used a local farmer's phone to send the threatening messages via WhatsApp to the Mumbai Traffic Police's helpline.

In their investigation, the Crime Branch found that Pasha had activated WhatsApp on the phone of Venkatesh Narayan Dasar, a 50-year-old farmer from the area. "The farmer, Mr. Dasar, told us that an unknown person approached him on November 3, asking to make a phone call using his mobile. Unaware of Pasha’s intentions, Mr. Dasar allowed him to use the phone, and it was later discovered that the threatening message had been sent using his device," said a Crime Branch official.

The threatening message, sent on November 4, claimed that Pasha was a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. The message demanded a ransom of ₹5 crore and warned that the lyricist would be killed within a month. It also included a taunt directed at Salman Khan, challenging him to protect the lyricist if he had the courage. In the message, Pasha allegedly wrote: "I am a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. If Salman Khan has the guts, let him try and protect the lyricist. Otherwise, he will be killed within a month."

Pasha was arrested and presented before a Mumbai court on Tuesday, where he was remanded to two days of police custody. Authorities are now investigating whether Pasha has any links to organized crime, including the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, and whether this threat is part of a larger extortion scheme. "Pasha had previously worked at a tire company before venturing into YouTube content creation. We are looking into any possible connections he may have with criminal gangs," an officer from the Crime Branch stated.

The police are currently verifying the authenticity of Pasha’s claims regarding his association with the Bishnoi gang and examining his background for any ties to criminal activities.
