Mastermind Behind ₹10 Lakh Robbery in Girgaon Arrested
In a major breakthrough in the ₹10 lakh robbery case that took place at gunpoint in Girgaon, Mumbai, police have arrested Anurag Singh Rajput, the mastermind behind the heist. Anurag, who worked for the victim businessman Harish Prajapati, conspired with his older brother, Yuvraj Singh Umesh Singh, to carry out the robbery.
According to the VP Road Police, the robbery took place on December 20 when Prajapati sent his employee, Indrakumar Prajapti, along with Anurag to deliver ₹10 lakh to Shrinath Co-operative Housing Society in Girgaon. Anurag had already tipped off his two accomplices, who trailed the victims from the start. Upon reaching the society, the two suspects intercepted them, robbed them at gunpoint, and also used chili spray.
In an attempt to divert suspicion, Anurag inflicted cuts on his arm with a knife, making it appear as though he had struggled to protect the money. However, CCTV footage exposed his involvement, leading to his arrest on Tuesday. This arrest follows the earlier detention of his brother, Yuvraj, on Monday.
During the investigation, DCP Dr. Mohit Garg stated that Anurag was seen signaling the perpetrators before the crime was committed. The police are continuing to search for two additional suspects involved in the robbery.
Anurag had been working for Harish Prajapati for the past year and had planned the robbery for financial gain. The police are confident that further investigation will reveal more details about the operation.
