Man Booked for Threatening Maharashtra Deputy CM Eknath Shinde
The Thane police have registered an FIR against a 26-year-old man for allegedly threatening Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde through a social media post, an official said on Monday.
The accused, identified as Hitesh Dhende, a resident of Varli Pada in Thane city, reportedly used derogatory language against Shinde and issued a death threat online. Acting on a complaint filed by a Shiv Sena activist from the Shinde-led faction, the police registered the case on Sunday.
Dhende has been charged under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including Section 133 (assault or criminal force with intent to dishonor a person), Section 352 (intentional insult to provoke a breach of peace), Section 351(1) (criminal intimidation), and Section 356(2) (defamation).
The police have launched a search operation to locate the accused.
