Mamata Banerjee Injured in fall at Kolkata Residence, Political Leaders Extend Wishes for her Speedy Recovery
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday sustained an injury to her forehead following a fall at her residence in Kalighat, Kolkata. The Trinamool Congress Supremo was rushed to SSKM Hospital, where she underwent four sutures before she was discharged later in the evening. Hospital authorities confirmed that she suffered a cerebral concussion and received a sharp cut on her forehead and nose as a result of the fault.
The Trinamool Congress shared images of the injured Chief Minister on social media, urging supporters to keep her in their prayers. “Our chairperson @MamataOfficial sustained a major injury. Please keep her in your prayers,” posted Trinamool Congress on the social media platform “X”.
Family members accompanied her during her hospital stay. Several party leaders were present at the hospital to monitor CM Mamata Banerjee’s condition. There was a visible outpouring of concern from both her party members and leaders across political lines. Numerous well-wishers gathered at the hospital to inquire about her health, with political figures from various parties expressing their concern and wishing her a speedy recovery.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to social media to wish a speedy recovery for the West Bengal CM. “I pray for a quick recovery and the best health for Mamata Didi. @MamataOfficial,” posed PM Modi on “X”. The West Bengal Chief Minister thanked the Prime Minister for his concern in a separate post on Friday.
“Wishing Mamata ji strength and a very swift recovery. @MamataOfficial,” posted Rahul Gandhi. Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik, Congress President Mallickarjun Kharge, and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal were amongst the barrage of political leaders across the country who expressed their concern and wished a swift recovery for Mamata Banerjee. The Trinamool Congress Supremo thanked all the leaders for their wishes.
The Kolkata police initiated an inquiry on Friday into the incident. Additionally, security measures at the CM's residence in Kolkata have been heightened by the police.
