Mahayuti Govt releases “Work Report” Highlighting its Accomplishments a Day after ECI Announced Maharashtra Assembly Elections
The Mahayuti alliance, comprising BJP, Shive Sena, and NCP on Wednesday released a “Work Report” detailing initiatives, infrastructural projects and various welfare schemes undertaken by the regime during its tenure spanning over the last two and a half years. This “Work Report” comes a day after the Election Commission of India announced the polling dates for the Maharashtra assembly elections.
"This is the first government to present a Work Report Card to the public. Compare our performance with that of the previous Maha Vikas Aghadi government—no one has achieved what we have in the last 2.5 years," said Chief Minister Eknath Sinde taking a swipe at the former Maha Vikas Aghadi government headed by Uddhav Thackery.
The “Work Report” tabled by the Mahayuti alliance highlights key initiatives and accomplishments by its government over the last two and a half years. It includes major infrastructural projects and various welfare schemes undertaken across sectors such as education, agriculture, and women's empowerment. Chief Minister Shinde added over 900 decisions, spanning across 50 to 60 cabinet meetings were taken by his government to advance Maharashtra’s development.
Shinde dismissed all criticism received from the opposition parties over the "Ladki Bahin” scheme. Aimed towards empowering the women of Maharastra, the “Ladli Bahin” scheme allots a monthly allowance of Rs 1,500 to Rs 3,000 transferred directly to the bank accounts of eligible women. However, the Opposition took a swipe at the Shinde regime and stated that this welfare scheme is nothing but an election gimmick, and would cease to exist after the polls were over. "The scheme was meticulously planned, and Rs 45,000 crore has already been allocated. Anyone claiming that it will stop after the election is spreading false narratives," said Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
The political landscape in Maharashtra has undergone significant changes over the past five years, particularly with the splits in the Shiv Sena and NCP. Both the Mahayuti and the Maha Vikas Aghadi are now in the final stages of candidate selection for the 2024 assembly elections. Maharashtra goes to polls in a single phase on November 20. The Model Code of Conduct came into effects on October 15. The results for the 288 seat assembly will be declared on November 23.
Important dates related to the Maharashtra assembly election are as follows:
Gazette Notification: October 22
Last date for filing nominations: October 29
Last date for withdrawing candidacies: November 4
