Maharashtra: Key Witness in Criminal Case Shot Dead in Thane

Mohammad Tabrez Ansari, a 35-year-old businessman and key witness in a criminal case, was shot dead on Friday night at Shanti Shopping Centre in Mira Road, a suburb in Maharashtra's Thane district.

The incident occurred around 10 p.m. when an unidentified man entered the shopping centre and shot Ansari in the head from close range. The attacker fled the scene immediately after the shooting, leaving Ansari critically injured.

Police officials revealed that Ansari, also known as Shams Tabrez Ansari alias Sonu, had been receiving threats prior to the attack. He had reportedly filed a complaint with the police, expressing concerns for his safety.


Officers from Naya Nagar police station sealed off the area following the shooting and began collecting evidence.

CCTV footage from the shopping centre and nearby areas is being analyzed to identify the suspect.

Ansari’s body was sent for a postmortem examination, and the police have launched a detailed investigation into the incident.​
