Maharashtra Cyber Cell Files FIR Against E-Commerce Platforms Selling T-Shirts Glorifying Criminals like Dawwod Ibrahim and Lawrence Bishnoi
he Maharashtra Cyber Department has taken action against several e-commerce platforms for selling T-shirts that glorify notorious criminals, filing an FIR against sellers and platforms alike.
This step, initiated by the Office of the Special Inspector General of Police, underscores efforts to curb content that disturbs public order and promotes criminal behavior.
The department recently uncovered that platforms such as Flipkart, AliExpress, TeeShopper, and Etsy were selling T-shirts with images of criminal such as Lawrence Bishnoi and Dawood Ibrahim.
Officials raised concerns that these products, which glamorize a criminal lifestyle, could have a harmful influence on young people by promoting a negative and potentially dangerous mindset.
In response, Maharashtra Cyber Department filed an FIR against both the sellers and the platforms involved. The case has been registered under sections 192, 196, 353, and 3 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, and Section 67 of the IT Act, 2000.
