Maharashtra: Builder Shot at Near Diamond Garden in Chembur; Hunt On for Bike-Borne Shooter

Gunshots rang out near the Diamond Garden signal in Chembur on Wednesday night after two unidentified assailants allegedly opened fire at a builder travelling in a car. The victim, identified as 50-year-old Sadruddin Khan alias Sadru, sustained injuries and was admitted to Zen Hospital. His condition is reported to be stable.

The incident occurred around 10 PM while Khan was on his way home to Belapur in a black vehicle via the Sion-Trombay highway. As the car halted at the Diamond Garden signal, two assailants on a motorbike approached and opened fire before fleeing the scene.

Confirming the attack, CP Zone 6 Navnath Dhawale said, “An incident of firing was reported at Diamond Garden signal around 10 PM. When a car stopped at the signal, two bike riders fired at the person inside. The injured individual has been admitted to the hospital and is now out of danger.”

The Chembur Police have registered an FIR and launched a probe into the matter. CCTV footage from the area is being examined to identify and trace the shooters. The motive behind the attack is yet to be established.​
