Kolkata Gets Direct Metro Services from Sahid Khudiram to Netaji International Airport

Offering a big relief to commuters, Kolkata metro railway has announced the introduction of direct Metro services between Jai Hind Bimanbandar (Dum Dum Airport) and Shahid Khudiram station, aimed at improving connectivity for air travellers and daily commuters. The new services commenced on December 15, 2025 (Monday) and have begun operations on an experimental basis.

The initiative is intended to benefit passengers arriving at the airport during the morning peak hours and late evening, offering them a smoother and more convenient travel experience across the city.

The direct services will run via Noapara, eliminating the need for commuters to change trains at that station.

According to Metro Railway officials, two direct services began operations from Monday to Friday—one in the morning and another in the late evening. The first service started from Jai Hind Bimanbandar at 9:36 am, while the second service is scheduled to leave at 9:00 pm.

Passengers travelling to key destinations such as Esplanade, Kalighat, Mahanayak Uttam Kumar, and Shahid Khudiram will be able to reach their destinations without any interchange, significantly reducing travel time and inconvenience.

Metro Railway stated that these experimental services are part of ongoing efforts to enhance urban mobility and provide seamless airport-to-city connectivity for commuters in and around Kolkata.
