Kejriwal seeks Trust Vote, Wins it
Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday won the trust vote with the majority in the Delhi Assembly. The Aam Admi Party Chief moved the motion of confidence on Friday to show his strength amidst soaring speculations of his arrest and allegations of BJP trying to poach AAP MLAs. 54 out of 62 AAP MLAs were present in the house when the voting took place.
Arvind Kejriwal alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party has been trying to poach AAP MLAs and destabilize his government in Delhi. “Now they have come forth their ‘Operation Lotus’, however, they have not been able to break our unity and trust in each other because we have never indulged in anything wrong. The MLAs that they managed to poach in other states had engaged in corrupt practices and they needed BJP’s protection and that is why they switched sides, “asserted Arvind Kejriwal.
The trust vote comes at a day when the Chief Minister appeared before a Delhi court via video conferencing regarding his failure to attend ED summons in connection with the excise policy case.
“You may be successful in arresting Kejriwal, but, how will you stop my well wishers, the people from bringing me back? BJP has tried to hinder the AAP government’s work in many ways. They have assaulted and tormented me in more ways than one, and now, they want to arrest me,”said the Aam Admi Party Chief amidst soaring speculations of his arrest following the Enforcement Directorate’s sixth summon in connection with the alleged liquor scam.
The Enforcement Directorate on Wednesday issued a sixth summon for Kejriwal's appearance on February 19, following his failure to attend questioning despite five previous summons.
