Karnataka Police summons BJP President JP Nadda and IT-cell head Amit Malviya over tweet allegedly targeting SC/ST Community
The Karnataka Police summoned BJP President JP Nadda and IT-cell head Amit Malviya on Wednesday in connection with a tweet by the BJP that allegedly targeted the SC/ST Community. The duo have been asked to appear at Bangaluru’s High Ground Police station within seven days of receipt of the notice, based on a complaint filed by a person named Ramesh Babu.
The summon stated that a video posted on 04/05/2024 from BJP Karnataka’s X handle @bjp4karnataka intended to “create feelings of enmity, hatred and ill-will against members of SC/ST community.”
The video in question was an animated video that depicted Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. It targeted the Congress party over the reservation row. It was allegedly posted on the instructions of JP Nadda and BJP State President B Y Vijayendra.
On May 5, the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee filed a complaint with the Election Commission alleging an attempt to “provoke rioting and provoking enmity”. The Congress has maintained that their manifesto does not mention diverting funds from the SC, ST and OBC communities to the Muslim communities as is being claimed by the BJP.
