The Indian women's kabaddi team clinched gold in the finals by defeating Chinese Taipei in the Hangzhou Asian Games, taking India’s medal tally to an even 100, with 25 gold, 35 silver, and 40 bronze medals. With a total of 95 medals in their pocket, India had already guaranteed 100 medals on Friday. With 100 medals secured in the nation’s name, there still are a few assured medals to be won. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has lauded this historic achievement and said that it has filled the hearts of Indian citizens with pride, ‘This is a testament to the power of dreams, dedication, and teamwork of our athletes’ said Sports Authority of India.
Taking to X, Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the Indian contingent and said, “A momentous achievement for India at the Asian Games! The people of India are thrilled that we have reached a remarkable milestone of 100 medals. I extend my heartfelt congratulations to our phenomenal athletes whose efforts have led to this historic milestone for India. Every awe-inspiring performance has made history and filled our hearts with pride.” The Prime Minister also announced that he is looking forward to host all the athletes on October 10.

India's women's kabaddi team secured India's 100th medal at the Asian Games in a captivating 26-25 win over Chinese Taipei. Previously, India's highest record at the Asian Games was 70 medals in Indonesia in 2018, which comprised 16 gold, 23 silver, and 31 bronze.
