“I will see the end of you…”: TMC Mahua Moitra's Fiery Comeback in the 18th Lok Sabha
“I do not fear you (BJP); I will see the end of you,” said Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra as she made her comeback speech in the House of the 18th Lok Sabha on Monday. The Krishnanagar MP was expelled from the 17th Lok Sabha in December 2023 in connection with the cash for query charges leveled against her by BJP MP Nishikant Dubey.
“I stand here on behalf of my party, the All India Trinamool Congress, to speak on the Honorable President’s Address. The last time I stood here I was not allowed to speak. But the ruling party has paid a very heavy price for throttling the voice of one MP. In an attempt to suppress me, the public made 63 of your members sit permanently. You have come down from 303 seats to 240 seats,” said Mahua Moitra at the beginning of fiery comeback speech that she delivered on the floor of the House.
In her speech, Moitra highlighted the happenings of December 8, the day she was expelled from the Lok Sabha owing to the cash-for-query allegations. “7 months ago, on the 8th of December, this house was transformed into a ‘Kuru-Sabha’, presided over by a blind ‘Dhritarashtra’, where ‘Durshashan’ darbaris made every attempt to disrobe ‘Draupadi’… Much like Lord Krishna protected Draupadi, the people of Krishnanagar have protected me,” said the Krishnanagar MP. “In the last year, many people have looked at me and said, oh Mahua you must have lost a lot. You lost your membership, you lost your house, and by the way I also lost my uterus due to a surgery. But you know what I gained; I gained what Rahul ji said, the freedom from fear. I do not fear you; I will see the end of you,” said Mahua Moitra concluding her speech in the Lok Sabha.
Following the recommendations of the Parliamentary Ethics Committee and then a voice vote in the House, Trinamool Congress leader Mahua Moitra was expelled from the Lok Sabha in connection with the alleged cash-for-query scam.
