Houses of the Parliament Adjourned Till 2pm, Opposition 'INDIA' Demands PM Modi's Statement on Manipur

Owing to the protests of the Opposition alliance INDIA, both houses of the parliament have been adjourned till 2pm today. The opposition has been rallying for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s statement in the Parliament, centering on the Manipur issue. It has been 90 days since violence first broke out in Manipur, and the Prime Minister is yet to break his silence on the same.

“An all-party delegation should visit Manipur and analyze the situation in the state. We have brought the no-confidence motion and the government should have discussions on it as early as possible. "said Congress MP Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, calling the situation in Manipur of ‘grave’ concern.

Ahead of today’s session, the MP’S who had visited the violence rocked state of Manipur, and witnessed the ground reality of the state, held a meeting to strategize, discuss and propound a proposal for the floor of the House. The opposition leaders resorted to sloganeering in the Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha today. "We want a detailed discussion on the Manipur issue. Our delegations have gone to Manipur. It is a very serious issue, why can't the Prime Minister come? We are all ready to discuss Manipur", said TMC MP Derek O’Brien demanding for the PM to participate in a discussion pertaining to the Manipur mayhem.

BJP leaders allege that the leaders of the opposition are hindering the proceedings of the Parliament. “We want discussions on Manipur to take place in Parliament today at 2pm. They are trying to misuse the liberty given to the members. The governmnet is ready to discuss Manipur, but they have already spoilt nine important days of the House.”says Piyush Goyal, Leader of the House in Rajya Sabha.
