“Hang me…I don’t care…” Kolkata RG Kar Rapist Is Unrepentant, Shocks His Interrogators
“ I don’t care…”, Sanjay Roy’s psyche is nothing short of a criminal with little regard or fear for law, claims a police officer part of his interrogation team. Roy was arrested by Kolkata Police on Saturday on charges of raping and killing the female doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital (MCH) on Friday morning. “Hang me if you want, I don’t care”, is what Roy had told police during interrogation, as being quoted by the officer News The Truth has spoken with. He has been sent to 14 days of police custody by the court on Saturday. Circumstantial evidences and CCTV footage have abundantly confirmed Roy had perpetrated the crime.
A resident of Bhawanipur in Kolkata, Sanjoy Roy was working with the welfare organisation of the Civic Volunteer of Kolkata Police. He was tasked to oversee the admission process and other medical intervention any emergency warranted involving civic volunteers or Kolkata Police personnel and if being rushed to RG Kar. Thus Roy had access inside the hospital. “There was no need for him to be there at the hospital that night, so late in the night. He had ulterior motives and he was watching porn videos while drinking that evening. He went inside the seminar hall and found the medical student lying. There is no remorse in him. He has not broken down during the interrogation. He has displayed every trait of psychotic criminal. His very sight after a point will make you angry, the very fact he has no remorse even after doing what he has done, will make you very very angry” said the officer not willing to be identified, adding that the accused was addicted to sexual perversion.
Roy had moved out of his family in the past one year and had been staying on his own. “His behaviour towards us had been bad. I am ashamed of my son. How could he be my son. I don’t know if me apologising will help anyone. I can never forgive my son”, said Sanjoy’s 68 year old mother (her identity is being withheld for the sake of her dignity).
The 31 year old PGT student was on night shift duty and had gone to the Seminar Hall of the MCH for quick rest. Roy in an inebriated state had walked in there after 3am and found the medical student sleeping. The post mortem report has confirmed rape and murder. There were injuries on his eyes, mouth and private parts. “Sanjoy’s cannibalistic behaviour was such that we fear he had smothered the lady doctor first and then had raped her. He then had quietly gone back to his room and slept late till Friday morning. He after waking up had tried washing his clothes. We have seized everything. There were blood stains on his shoes”, added the officer. The CCTV footage from the corridor helped the police identify the movements around the Seminar hall. While Sanjoy was seen loitering around the hall, he was caught because of the bluetooth headphone that he had forgotten to pick up from the crime scene and after committing the crime.
“I am an officer and I have all the respect for law but as a father of a daughter I want this man to be hanged at the earliest. There is room for such criminals in our society. Such rapists don’t deserve to live. Sanjoy isn’t scared but such a stringent punished will scare others from committing such a heinous crime”, added the officer.
