Firecracker Triggers Panic at a Bengaluru School after Delhi Blast

Panic spread through a private school in Anekal on Tuesday morning after a loud explosion inside the boys’ toilet sent students and teachers fleeing in fear. The incident took place at Brainy Stars International School in Bingipura, creating chaos on campus just a day after the car blast near Delhi’s Red Fort heightened public anxiety.

Police from the Bannerghatta station rushed to the scene soon after the explosion was reported. Officers inspected the site, questioned school staff, and reviewed CCTV footage to determine what had happened. Classes were immediately suspended, and worried parents gathered outside the school to collect their children.

Initial investigations revealed that the blast had been caused by ‘Lakshmi crackers’, a type of firework widely used during Diwali celebrations. According to police, a group of students had ignited the crackers inside the washroom as part of a prank. While no one was injured, officers cautioned that such reckless acts could have led to serious harm.

The school management has identified the students involved and begun counselling sessions for them. Officials said the institution will also strengthen safety measures and increase monitoring across the campus to prevent similar incidents in future.

In the wake of the Delhi explosion, Bengaluru City Police Commissioner Seemant Kumar Singh announced a citywide high alert. Security has been intensified at key locations, including airports, metro stations, malls, and railway terminals. “All DCPs and ACPs have been instructed to conduct vehicle checks, maintain nakabandis, and stay vigilant for any suspicious movement,” Singh said. He urged residents to remain calm, refrain from spreading rumours, and report any unusual activity to the authorities without delay.
