Diljit Dosanjh Dedicates Guwahati Concert to Late Prime Minister Manmohan Singh
Singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh dedicated his recent concert in Guwahati to the late former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. Diljit shared a heartfelt tribute on Instagram after his Dil-Luminati show on Sunday, where he praised the “simplicity, grace, and dignity” of Manmohan Singh, urging the youth to learn from his conduct, especially in difficult situations.
In the video, Diljit spoke passionately about the former PM’s understated approach to politics, saying, "Today's concert is dedicated to former late Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. He led a very simple life. He never used to answer back or talk ill, which is quite impossible in a profession like politics." He emphasized how Singh’s ability to remain calm and composed, even in the face of criticism, was remarkable, especially in a field known for its cutthroat nature.
Diljit further elaborated on Manmohan Singh’s philosophy, sharing his admiration for the late leader’s ability to maintain silence when provoked. “If I look at his life, he led a very simple one. Even if someone spoke ill about him, he never answered back. This is, however, the toughest thing to do in politics," he said.
The singer also quoted a famous shayari by Manmohan Singh, “Hazaro'n jawabo'n se meri khamoshi acchi, na jane kitne sawalo ki aabru dhak leti hai," reflecting the former PM's belief in responding to adversity with silence. The singer-actor urged the youth, including himself, to adopt such dignified behavior in their own lives, emphasizing, "I think today's youth should learn it, I should too. We should focus on our goals even if people speak badly about us and try to distract us. The one who is speaking badly about us is also an avatar of God. You are being tested on how you react to it."
In his Instagram post, Diljit captioned the video: "Today's Concert is dedicated to Dr. Manmohan Singh Ji. DIL-LUMINATI TOUR Year 24."
Manmohan Singh passed away on December 26 at the age of 92 after battling a prolonged illness. His passing was mourned by many, with several figures from the film industry paying tribute to his leadership and contributions to India’s growth during his tenure as the country’s Finance Minister and later as the Prime Minister from 2004 to 2014.
