Delhi Courts Hit by Bomb Threats Ahead of Red Fort Blast Hearing

Multiple district courts in Delhi received bomb threats on Tuesday, just hours before the scheduled appearance of Jasir Bilal Wani, the National Investigation Agency’s second arrest in the Red Fort car bombing case at Patiala House Courts. Authorities later confirmed that all threats were hoaxes.

Patiala House, Saket and Tis Hazari court complexes received the threat emails, prompting temporary disruption of court proceedings. At Saket Court, work was halted for nearly two hours before normal functioning resumed, according to Saket Bar Association secretary, Advocate Anil Basoya.

Advocate Tarun Rana, secretary of the New Delhi Bar Association, said the threats were sent to multiple district court email accounts. He added that investigations confirmed the warnings were false and that proceedings were continuing “smoothly” without panic.

Security was tightened at Patiala House Court ahead of Wani’s production. The Rapid Action Force was deployed outside the complex, and bomb disposal units along with dog squads carried out thorough checks after the threat message was received.

Wani, also known as Danish, hails from Qazigund in Jammu and Kashmir. He was detained along with his uncle on Saturday by Jammu and Kashmir Police for questioning in connection with the Faridabad terror module and the 10 November Red Fort blast that killed more than ten people.

According to reports, the Wani family lives close to the residences of doctor brothers Adil Rather and Muzaffar Rather, both key members of the alleged terror network. Adil was arrested earlier this month from Uttar Pradesh for his suspected involvement in posting Jaish-e-Mohammed threat posters in Nowgam, while Muzaffar is still believed to be on the run.
