Delhi Assembly Elections: Clashes Erupt in Seelampur Constituency over Alleged Fake Voting
Tensions flared in Delhi’s Sreelampur constituency following allegations of fraudulent voting, leading to a brief disruption of the polling process. Voting for all 70 seats in the Delhi Assembly elections is underway under tight security.
The incident occurred at a polling booth near Aryan Public School, where BJP workers alleged that outsiders from Loni, Uttar Pradesh, were being brought in to vote under the guise of burqas. This sparked protests, with BJP supporters chanting slogans outside the booth. The situation escalated when AAP workers countered the claims, resulting in a heated exchange between both parties. Voting was briefly halted, but police intervened promptly to disperse the crowd and restore order.
In addition to Seelampur, AAP has accused BJP of electoral misconduct at multiple locations. AAP MP Sanjay Singh alleged that money was being distributed near Rashtrapati Bhavan, while Delhi Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj claimed that AAP supporters were being obstructed from reaching polling booths in his constituency. Similar allegations of cash distribution have emerged from Jangpura.
