Crime Branch Arrests Five with Seven Firearms in Mumbai; Possible Bishnoi Gang Link Suspected

In a major crackdown, the Mumbai Police Crime Branch arrested five individuals with seven firearms and 21 live rounds in the Andheri area. The Anti-Extortion Cell carried out the operation based on intelligence inputs, apprehending the accused near Platinum Hotel on March 29.
According to sources, the arrested individuals have been identified as Vikas Dinesh Thakur (24, Gorakhpur), Sumit Kumar Dilawar (26, Sonipat), Devendra Saxena (24, Indore), Shreyas Yadav (27, Gopalganj), and Vivek Kumar Gupta (22, Rajasthan). The accused had reportedly traveled to Mumbai from different states, including Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Bihar, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh.
Investigators suspect that the accused were in Mumbai to assassinate a businessman. The Crime Branch is probing their possible links to the Bishnoi gang. However, the identity of the businessman remains undisclosed. Additionally, officials are also investigating whether actor Salman Khan was a potential target.
Among the arrested individuals, Sumit Kumar has multiple cases registered against him in Haryana. The Crime Branch is now working to determine who sent them and whether they had any local connections in Mumbai.
Accused has been granted custody tiil April 5 for further investigation.
