“Co-terminus with the term of PM…” Ajit Doval reappointed as NSA and PK Mishra as Principle Secy in Modi office 3.0
Retired IPS officer Ajit Doval has been reappointed as the National Security Advisor of India on Thursday, according to a government order. The appointments committee of the cabinet also re-appointed PK Mishra as the Principal Secretary to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in a clear indication of continuity, similar to the recently formed cabinet of PM Modi for his third term. The reappointments are effective from June 10, as per the government order.
In statements announcing the appointments, the government said they will be "co-terminus with the term of the Prime Minister or until further orders, whichever is earlier". This means that the officials will be in their posts until Narendra Modi is the Prime Minister, or until further orders. Both Mr Doval and Mr Mishra will be holding the rank of a cabinet minister during their term in office, the statements said.
Mr Doval, a 1968-batch IPS officer was the former director of the Intelligence Bureau. He is known as one of the most trusted aides of PM Modi and has been holding the office of NSA since 2014. On the other hand, Dr Mishra, a 1972-batch IAS officer from Gujarat cadre, will continue to handle administrative matters in the PMO.
