CM Ashok Gehlot files his nomination from the Sardarpura seat ahead of the upcoming Rajasthan Assembly Elections
Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot filed his nomination papers from a Congress stronghold, Jodhpur district's Sardarpura seat on Monday, ahead of the assembly election slated on November 25.
Taking to social media platform ‘X’, the Rajasthan CM posted, “Today, with the resolve of Rajasthan's prosperity and prosperous Sardarpura, I filed nomination papers as a candidate from the area.” Gehlot was accompanied by his wife Sunita Gehlot and son Vaibhav Gehlot. The CM sought his sister’s blessings before he submitted his nomination.
Pictures of the Chief Minister’s pre-submission rituals were posted online. “Tilak, sandalwood, bow moving in the spirit of public service with the blessings of ancestors, blessings of elder sister and goodwill of family members, I leave for nomination with the aim of public victory,” posted Gehlot on ‘X’, formerly known as Twitter.
Sardarpura is considered to be a Congress stronghold, with Gehlot winning the seat in every election since 1998. Back in 2018, the CM managed to secure 63% of the total votes cast. Assembly elections in Rajasthan are scheduled on November 25, and the results will be declared on December 3.
