Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut on Thursday launched a sarcastic attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the reported shortage of LPG cylinders, saying that chanting slogans like “Namo Namo” or “Jai Shri Ram” would ensure fuel is delivered directly to people’s homes.
Speaking to reporters, Raut mocked the government’s handling of the situation and said, “Just chant ‘Jai Shri Ram cylinder’ and the cylinder will be delivered to your home. If you chant the ‘Namo Namo’ mantra, petrol and diesel will also arrive at your doorstep.”
His remarks come amid reports of LPG supply disruptions in several parts of the country. Hotel owners as well as ordinary citizens have complained about difficulties in obtaining gas cylinders. Long queues have been reported outside several gas agencies, with many consumers saying they have not received their cylinders even after booking them.
Raut alleged that the government has failed to address the concerns of the people and criticised the Prime Minister for not responding to the issue.
“At a time when the country is facing a gas shortage crisis, the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi are more focused on winning elections,” he said.
Continuing his criticism, Raut said the political slogan “Namo Namo” has become a kind of mantra. “If you chant this mantra, petrol and diesel will be delivered to your home. People will come to your doorstep with pipes. Just say ‘Namo Namo’ and ‘Jai Shri Ram’ and you will get everything,” he said.
He further claimed that blind support for the government had grown to such an extent that people were ignoring the real issues facing the country.
Raut was also asked about India’s response to the ongoing Iran–Israel conflict, particularly when several other countries have expressed their views on the situation. In response, he alleged that the Prime Minister was busy campaigning in Kerala and Tamil Nadu for upcoming Assembly elections.
“The country is facing serious issues — there is a crisis related to gas, petrol, diesel and edible oil — yet there has been no action or even a basic statement from the Prime Minister,” Raut said.
He further accused the Prime Minister of prioritising election campaigns over governance. “Huge amounts of public money are being spent on elections. It is unfortunate for the country that it has got such an insensitive Prime Minister,” he added.
Raut also criticised India’s foreign policy, claiming that the country no longer commands the same respect globally as it once did.
“Earlier, India’s policies and stance were taken seriously in global politics, but that situation has changed,” he said. Referring to recent developments in West Asia, Raut alleged that the Prime Minister had visited Israel shortly before the conflict escalated and claimed that the Supreme Leader of Iran had been assassinated afterward.
“Even after that, the Prime Minister did not express condolences. This means you are under someone’s pressure. Someone is blackmailing you,” Raut alleged.
