BJP Youth Wing Allegedly Attacks Congress Office in South Mumbai amid Ambedkar Remark Row
Amid the fallout in Parliament following Union Home Minister Amit Shah's remarks on Dr. BR Ambedkar, BJP Youth Wing President Tejendersingh Tiwana and party workers allegedly attacked the Mumbai Congress office in South Mumbai. Tiwana claimed the attack was in response to a BJP MP's allegation that a senior Congress leader had pushed him outside Parliament.
According to reports, the incident occurred while Congress workers were holding a meeting inside the office. They initially heard slogans praising Babasaheb Ambedkar but soon realized it was an attack on the party office. One of the Congress workers stated that upon stepping out of the office they saw BJP workers tearing posters of Sonia Gandhi, and throwing black ink on posters of Sonia and Rahul Gandhi. Windows were broken and the main entrance of the office was damaged.
After the attack, disgruntled Congress workers present at the office said, "Gunda Raj has begun under the BJP after gaining a majority in the state. This is completely unacceptable."
"Chief Minister, where is law and order in the state? Here, workers from your own party have now turned into goons and started attacking the Congress party office. This is the serious concern right now, winter session is going in Nagpur discussion is going on Law and Order and here ruling party workers breaking all law, this is very serious concern right now,” said Congress MLA Vijay Wadettiwar.
The police responded promptly, and the officers arrived at the scene and resorted to lathi charge to disperse the crowd. DCP Zone 1, Pravin Mudhe, also reached the location immediately and initiated an investigation into the matter. Several of the reported BJP workers were also detained.
