BJP is ‘PerturbED, RattlED, ScarED’ says TMC Abhishek Banerjee after being summoned by the Enforcement Directorate, yet again
The BJP is ‘perturbED, rattlED, scarED’ says Trinamool Congress National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee, taking to X (formerly known as Twitter.) Abhishek Banerjee has been summoned by the Enforcement Directorate to appear before them for questioning in connection to the recruitment scam on October 3. Incidentally, the same date has also been chosen by Trinamool Congress to stage a protest agitation in Delhi for West Bengal’s rightful dues that have not been cleared by the Union Government. Previously, Banerjee was summoned by the Enforcement Directorate on September 13, a day that happened to coincide with the first meeting of the coordination committee of the Opposition Alliance INDIA in Delhi.
Taking to X, Abhishek Banerjee has slammed the Enforcement Directorate over the summon that coincides with Trinamool Congress’s protests scheduled to take place in Delhi over the MNREGA dues that have not been settled by the Central government. “Earlier this month, the ED summoned me on a day coinciding with an important coordinating meeting of INDIA in Delhi. I dutifully appeared and complied with the summons. Now, today yet again they have served me another summons to appear before them on a day when the protest agitation for West Bengal's rightful dues is scheduled in Delhi on 3rd Oct. This stark revelation unequivocally exposes those who are truly perturbED, rattlED and scarED!” tweeted the Trinamool Congress MP.
As a part of their protest program, Abhishek Banerjee and Trinamool Congress MPs and MLAs were to pay their respects Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat on October 2, his birth anniversary. The following day, October 3, a TMC delegation will meet the Union Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Giriraj Singh, and place before him the issue of the MNREGA funds that the Union Government owes to West Bengal.
Earlier this month, Abhishek Banerjee was summoned by the Enforcement Directorate, on the same day the Coordinating Committee of the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) was slated to meet at NCP leader Sharad Pawar’s Delhi residence to cement future proceedings of the coalition. The TMC MP missed the first meeting, and he ‘dutifully appeared and complied with the summons.’
Trinamool Congress has said that the BJP is using its power to suppress their voices and such is a ‘tyrant’s norm.’ "@BJP4India, how low will you stoop? First, you withhold the rightful dues of Bengal's people and let them suffer. And now, you're trying to SILENCE the voice of our people by summoning National GS Shri @abhishekaitc through your caged parrot @dir_ed on October 3rd, the day when a protest agitation is to take place in Delhi. There's nothing more shameful than witnessing how one of the largest democracies in the world has been reduced to ashes in PM @narendramodi's regime. But like always, WE WILL FIGHT BACK” tweeted Trinamool Congress, stating that the mere thought of them being in Delhi, upholding people’s rights has the saffron brigade ‘rattlED.’
Previously, various leaders of the Opposition have alleged that the BJP is using central agencies such as the Enforcement Directorate and the Central Bureau of Investigation to intimidate leaders and curb dissent in states where they are not in power.
Launching a scathing account on the West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari stated that the CM herself is involved in the scam because all her family members are being summoned by the Enforcement Directorate. “Chief Minister herself is involved in this massive scam”, said the West Bengal LOP. Abhishek Banerjee is the nephew of West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee.
