“BJP gave Nitishji a way out and he took it”: Rahul Gandhi on Nitish Kumar’s switch
Reacting to Nitish Kumar’s switch to NDA, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said that the Bihar CM switches sides even if a little pressure comes his way. Addressing a public gathering on Tuesday, as a part of his Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in Purnia, Gandhi asserted that the INDIA alliance does not need “Nitishji” to do their work.
The senior Congress leader, while talking about Bihar’s caste-based Census said that when Nitish Kumar found himself in a sticky position, the BJP offered him a way out, and Kumar took it. “We told Nitishji that you have to do a caste census in Bihar, we won’t let this pass. RJD and Congress pressured him to do it. There was pressure from the other side, the BJP did not want a caste census, they only wanted to distract the people. Nitishji got stuck in between, then BJP gave him an opportunity and he took it,” said Gandhi.
“Why did he come under pressure? Because in Bihar, our alliance has put one thing in front of the people: in this yatra, we have been speaking about five justices. One of those is social justice… you can also call it participation or equity,” added Rahul Gandhi.
Nitish Kumar on Sunday deserted the INDIA bloc and allied with the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance. He submitted his resignation in the morning and was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Bihar for the 9th time, with BJP leaders as his deputy chief ministers.
