Baba Siddique Murder Case: Maharashtra Police Arrests Man Responsible for Providing Financial Support from Nagpur
The Maharashtra Police on Friday arrested a man from Nagpur in connection with the ongoing investigation into the murder of NCP leader Baba Siddique. The arrested individual, identified as Sumit Dinkar Wagh (26), is a resident of Panaj in Akot tehsil, Akola. A team from the crime branch, which had traveled to Nagpur as part of the investigation, apprehended Wagh. He is now being transported back to Mumbai for further questioning. This marks the 26th arrest in the case.
Officials revealed that Wagh had transferred money to several key suspects involved in the case, including Nareshkumar Singh, the brother of a previously arrested accused, Gurnail Singh, as well as Rupesh Mohol and Harishkumar. The transactions were carried out using internet banking, with Wagh utilizing a newly acquired SIM card that was registered in the name of another arrested individual, Salman Vora.
Vora was arrested on November 17 by the Akola Crime Branch. According to officials, the money transfers were made under the direction of Shubham Lonkar. Lonkar, who shares a close friendship with Wagh, hails from the same tehsil in Akot, and the two had attended college together. Vora, originally from Petlad in Anand, was arrested in Balapur, Akola.
The investigation into Siddique’s murder made significant progress on November 10, when Shivkumar Gautam, the alleged primary shooter, was arrested in Uttar Pradesh’s Bahraich district. Gautam, who had been evading capture since October 12, was caught attempting to cross the border into Nepal. During the investigation, it was revealed that Gautam had visited the crime scene in Bandra East after the shooting and later went to Lilavati Hospital in Bandra West to confirm Siddique’s death. Despite numerous arrests and connections to various organized crime networks, authorities are still uncertain about the exact motive behind Baba Siddique’s murder.
