Baba Siddique Murder Case: Accused Visited Lilavati Hospital to Confirm Death, Details Plans of Escape and Gang Involvement
In a shocking revelation, the main accused in the murder of NCP leader Baba Siddique, Shiv Kumar Gautam, has confessed to chilling details of the assassination and his subsequent efforts to flee the city. The Crime Branch has confirmed that Gautam, who allegedly shot Siddique on October 12, went to extreme lengths to cover his tracks and monitor the victim’s condition after the attack.
According to Gautam's confession, he fired six rounds at Siddique around 9:11 AM on the fateful day before fleeing the scene. To evade detection, he changed his blood-stained shirt at a nearby location, hiding both the shirt and the pistol in a bag which he discarded under a parked car in a secluded area. Afterward, he returned to the crime scene and observed the unfolding situation for nearly 20 minutes before heading to Lilavati Hospital.
At the hospital, Gautam spent about 30 minutes gathering information from bystanders regarding Siddique’s condition. Upon learning that the NCP leader was critically injured with little chance of survival, he left the hospital, took an auto-rickshaw to Kurla station, and traveled by local train to Thane. From there, he boarded an express train to Pune, where he checked his phone and saw news reports confirming Siddique’s death.
Gautam also detailed the role of the Bishnoi gang in the aftermath of the murder. He revealed that he, along with accomplices Dharma Raj Kashyap and Gurmel Singh, had been instructed to meet at Ujjain railway station to be picked up by a gang member, who would escort them to Vaishno Devi as part of their escape plan. However, the plan unraveled when two shooters were apprehended at the crime scene, prompting Gautam and his associates to go on the run.
To evade capture, Gautam continued his flight across the country, traveling by train from Pune to North India, passing through Manmad, Ujjain, and Jhansi before reaching Lucknow. From there, he took a government bus to Bahraich, attempting to stay one step ahead of authorities.
The Crime Branch is now intensifying its investigation into the involvement of the Bishnoi gang in the murder and the broader network that may have orchestrated the attack on Siddique.
