Baba Siddique Murder Case: ₹17 Lakh 'Supari' Behind NCP Leader's Killing, Reveals 4,590 Page Chargesheet
After 85 days of investigation, the Mumbai Crime Branch on Monday filed a 4,590-page chargesheet in the special MCOCA court in connection with the murder of NCP leader Baba Siddique. The chargesheet names 26 arrested accused and three absconding suspects—Shubham Lonkar, Zeeshan Akhtar, and Anmol Bishnoi. It includes statements from 180 witnesses and details the recovery of five weapons, six magazines, 84 rounds of ammunition, 35 mobile phones, and two motorcycles.
The chargesheet reveals that the Bishnoi gang orchestrated Baba Siddique’s murder for ₹17 lakh, which was transferred into the accused's accounts through sleeper cells to evade detection. The murder, carried out on the instructions of Anmol Bishnoi, was driven by three primary motives:
1. Baba Siddique's close ties with Salman Khan and Dawood Ibrahim.
2. Retaliation for the alleged killing of Anuj Thapan, an accused in the Salman Khan firing case.
3. Establishing the Bishnoi gang's supremacy in Mumbai.
The chargesheet highlights a Facebook post by Shubham Lonkar after the murder, hinting at the gang's motives. It further states that following Baba’s killing, Anmol Bishnoi instructed his associates to gather information on Mumbai builders for potential extortion, aiming to instill fear similar to that of the Dawood gang.
According to the chargesheet, the conspiracy to kill Baba Siddique was hatched shortly after the firing at Salman Khan's residence in April 2024. Initially, the Bishnoi gang planned to assassinate Salman Khan, but his high-level security led them to shift their focus to his close associate, Baba Siddique.
The shooters had reportedly attempted to kill Baba Siddique during Ganpati Visarjan celebrations, owing to his visits to various mandals, but failed due to the heavy crowds. They later executed the plan near Baba's office. The chargesheet also reveals that the gang intended to kill Baba’s son, Zeeshan Siddique, but he narrowly escaped as he was not present at the scene.
