Arvind Kejriwal ignores third ED summon, "An attempt to stop Kejriwal from campaigning in elections," alleges AAP
For the third time in a row, Delhi Chief Minister, Arvind Minister has decided to not grace the Enforcement Directorate's summon, in connection to the case of alleged money laundering related to purported irregularities in the Delhi excise policy for 2021-22, informed AAP on Wednesday. The party has further asserted that the central agency’s summons are "illegal" and their only aim is to arrest the Delhi CM before elections.
The Aam Aadmi Party has stated that CM Arvind Kejriwal is ready to cooperate with the investigating agency, however, have also maintained that these "illegal" summons have been issued with the sole intention of arresting him. "Why has the notice been sent right before elections? The notice is an attempt to stop Kejriwal from campaigning in elections," questioned the AAP.
As per reports, since the issuance of the Enforcement Directorate summons, there has been considerable speculation regarding the potential arrest of the Delhi Chief Minister following the interrogation. Numerous statements from AAP leaders have only fueled these speculations.
In February 2023, former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia was arrested in connection to the case, and in October, AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh was arrested.
Back in April 2023, the Central Bureau of Investigation had questioned Kejriwal in connection to the case, but, did not tag him as an accused. Before the ED's most current summoned, the central agency had called the Delhi CM for questioning on November 2, and December 23, both of which were ignored by Kejriwal.
