Actor Saif Ali Khan Stabbed 6 Times After Intruder Breaks Into Mumbai Home

Actor Saif Ali Khan was attacked early Thursday morning by an intruder who allegedly broke into his residence in Mumbai. During the ensuing altercation, Khan was stabbed and subsequently rushed to Lilavati Hospital, where he is currently undergoing surgery.


A statement issued by the actor’s team confirmed the incident, stating, “There was an attempted burglary at Mr. Saif Ali Khan’s residence. He is currently in hospital undergoing surgery. We request the media and fans to be patient. This is a police matter, and we will provide further updates as the situation unfolds.”


Details of the Incident

According to police, the incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday when the intruder attempted to force his way into Khan's home. A scuffle ensued between the actor and the intruder, during which Khan was stabbed. 


Dr. Niraj Uttamani, Chief Operating Officer at Lilavati Hospital, confirmed the attack and provided updates on Khan’s condition. “Saif has sustained 6 injuries due to stabbing. Two are deep and one of them is close to spine. He is undergoing surgery. He is being operated by team of doctors led by Neurosurgeon Dr Nitin Dange, along with Cosmetic Surgeon Dr Leena Jain and anaesthesiologist Dr Nisha Gandhi”, said Dr Uttamani 


Police Investigation Underway

In response to the attack, three household attendants employed at Khan’s residence are being questioned by authorities. Mumbai Police have registered an FIR against the unidentified intruder at the Bandra police station, and the case has been transferred to the Mumbai Crime Branch for further investigation.


The Crime Branch has formed seven specialized teams to track down the suspect. As part of the investigation, one team is reviewing CCTV footage, while three other teams have been dispatched to various locations around the city in search of leads.
