6.2 Magnitude earthquake hits Nepal, strong tremors felt in Delhi
Strong earthquake tremors jolted Delhi on Tuesday, following the occurrence of multiple earthquakes in Nepal, of magnitudes 4.6 and 6.2, both at a depth of five kilometers, followed by a third one of 3.8 magnitude, and a fourth one of 3.1 magnitude . The first earthquake struck Nepal at 2:25pm, followed by the second one at 2:51pm. “Earthquake of Magnitude: 6.2, Occurred on 03-10-2023, 14:51:04 IST, Lat: 29.39 & Long: 81.23, Depth: 5 Km, Location: Nepal”, said National Center for Seismology in a statement.
The tremors that lasted for 40 seconds, triggered massive panic amongst civilians, with videos of people evacuating buildings, and rushing out of their homes flooding social media. Taking to X, the Delhi Police asked the people not to panic. “Hey Delhi people! We hope you all are safe. Please come out of your buildings to a safe spot, but do not panic. DO NOT USE ELEVATORS! For any emergency help, dial 112”, reads their post.
